The Development Coordinator is within Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Institutional Advancement Team reporting to the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (DCFR). This role provides administrative support advancing corporate/foundation fundraising initiatives through stewardship activities, grant fact-finding, proposal writing, and database management, as well as gift/grant coordination with MUSC faculty, gift officers, Donor Relations, and Central Communications. This Development Coordinator will also support reimbursements, grant reporting, scheduling, and donor briefing reports.
35%% - Supports Corporate and Foundation Advancement: Identifies and screens private grant opportunities, and compiles information with recommendations for potential alignment with clinical or academic areas. Coordinates with faculty to ensure timely grant reporting and manages grant request calendar. Partners with Advancement Services to obtain prospect information to inform strategic approach and make contact. Drafts occasional foundation proposals and reports. Updates, coordinates and communicates proposal progress to leadership and colleagues, as appropriate. Coordinates grant proposals with Office of Research and Sponsored Program. - (Essential)
20%% - Project Management: Submits DCFR project requests to Central Communications for proposal development, donor write-ups, press releases, and website content, and ensures timely submission of all content and deliverables. Works with faculty and development officers to ensure that content and reports are submitted by deadlines. - (Essential)
15%% - Elevated Stewardship: Partners with Donor Relation on gift acknowledgments for corporate or foundation donors. Works with Special Projects Manager to schedule thank you calls with leadership, as appropriate. Coordinates and schedules donor meetings with corporate/foundation designated scholarship recipients and associated gift officers. - (Essential)
15%% - Database Management: Updates database with CFR opportunities and fundraising activities, demonstrating progress toward goals. Ensures that contact information for all prospects is current and update to date in system. - (Essential)
15%% - Administrative: Responsible for DCFR calendar, scheduling appointments, meetings, conferences, etc. Coordinates with other internal resources on logistical and administrative tasks, such as arrangements for meeting space, parking, AV and communication needs, meals/catering, processing of invoices for payment of services, reimbursements. Provide donor briefings, and gift processing information to the MUSC Foundation. Other similar duties may be assigned by the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. - (Essential)
Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Experience writing, editing, and other forms of communication such as newsletters or correspondence is desired. Familiarity with local donor community, grant writing, and grant research/prospecting is preferred. Proficiency and experience with Raiser's Edge software is a plus.
MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in development, communications, or a related field required. Must have strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, administrative and project management skills, and strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work independently and proactively and use discretion in handling confidential information. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
