This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.  

This position is in the Department of Psychiatry.  This position is for the Medical School Campus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Position provides financial information and fiscal management for all of the Department's sponsored funds. This information is used by the faculty to assist them with project management and by the Business Office in the process of budget submission, plan and quarterly reports.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop, prepare and analyze financial statements, spreadsheets and projections for a specific faculty group.
2. Develop and prepare special reports for Executive Director during quarterly reporting, annual budget process and the annual plan process.
3. Assist faculty with budget preparation in the submission of grant, contract and foundation proposals. This may also include administrative/technical functions of grant submission.
4. Monitor research funds for appropriate expenditures based on funding agency and University guidelines; monitor for spending levels and usage. Use this information to prepare reports to show how expenditures compare actual to budgeted; spending ratios; and projections for up to five year time periods.
5. Prepare financial materials for various agencies as requested.
6. Generate and/or develop financial reports for expenditures on all research related funds.
7. Meet monthly/quarterly with individual faculty to review financial status of each of their projects. Review the financial reports, discuss options and changes. Provide financial analysis and projections over the award period. Integrate new awards into current financial plan for each research group.
8. Monitor changes of policy (NIH, OMB, SPA, G&C, etc.) to determine the effect on project spending, and keeping investigators updated on the policies and how it will affect specific projects directly.

Other Functions:

1. Process payroll sourcing for staff & faculty and review personnel costs associated with all research and clinical trial activities.
2. Monitor, maintain and invoice for various cost centers within the department.
3. Attend meetings & education programs in order to stay current on all University and Federal policies.
4. Review funding opportunities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office setting (currently work from home), with a staff of eight providing services to approximately 100 faculty member/post-docs so being able to work as a team is very important. The job itself is deadline driven and can be highly stressful.

Equivalent of bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in accounting or a related field plus experience in grants administration or nine years of combined education and related experience.

• Experience working with grants at Washington Univeristy.
• Four years of experience working with research funds in a University setting is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of the AIS, FIS, FOCUS, HRMS, PDS programs, Excel, Word, and Adobe.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently. 
• Able to plan and meet multiple deadlines each month.
• Strong communication skills.

The hiring range for this position is $51,293 - $66,685 annually.
