Three Fires Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has an excellent opportunity for a fundraising professional based in our St. Charles, Illinois office. Three Fires Council serves more than 14,000 youth in Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing and Exploring programs in the western suburbs of the Chicagoland area.
The Development Director promotes and supports the philanthropy and marketing efforts of the council through stewardship and communication with constituents and existing donors, management of special events, the annual fund campaign and the development of potential new and diversified revenue opportunities.
This position reports to the Director of Support Service and will have access to ongoing professional development opportunities. Additionally, Three Fires Council’s Executive Board will be a source of volunteer assistance in carrying out specific tasks associated with fundraising.
Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serve as staff leader for assigned special events committees.
Develop marketing collateral necessary to support philanthropic efforts for annual fundraising efforts and special events.
Build on existing donor relationships, set goals and inspire volunteers to attain those goals as event leaders and participants.
Manage project sales/gift in kind and direct mail campaigns.
Effectively utilize the data collected from donors and constituents to report on fundraising outcomes.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills & qualifications:
Excellent organizational capacity and demonstrated ability to be self?directed and self?motivated while participating as an active member of the development team.
Superb verbal and written communication skills.
Self-confidence in presenting, speaking and conducting enrollment opportunities, donation requests and volunteer committees.
Demonstrated ability to work well with others including staff, volunteers and donors.
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of marketing and development experience in a commercial or non?profit setting.
Skilled in basic software such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. Ability to quickly learn new web applications. Experience with Adobe products a bonus.
