Annual Giving, Donor Relations/Stewardship, Major Gifts
JSSA is seeking an experienced, motivated Director of Major Gifts to serve as a key steward for a portfolio of past, current and prospective donors in support of JSSA’s mission. The Director of Major & Planned Gifts directs and manages strategies for the fund raising channels of major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, endowment, and capital campaigns that contribute to our organization’s overall strategic fundraising program.
The Director of Major Gifts passionately articulates and advocates for our mission and vision as well as for the value proposition of “investing” in JSSA. Reporting to the Chief Development & External Affairs Officer, the Director of Major Gifts meets annual revenue targets by identifying, engaging, cultivating, and ultimately soliciting major gifts from community donors. Specific responsibilities include: developing tailored, strategic cultivation plans; moving potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; making direct solicitation and maintaining stewardship contacts with donors while adhering to the highest ethical standards. The high-performing and cohesive Development & Marketing team is comprised of 8 professionals raising $6 million philanthropically of our $35 million operating revenue.
The ideal candidate has over 7 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a mid-sized or larger organization with an active and vibrant philanthropic program, and a successful record of effectively closing major gifts at the five and six-figure levels annually. Qualified candidates will possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships; ability to interact in diverse social settings with ease and grace. The ideal candidate will be adept at using analytical metrics for monitoring results and improving performance; proficiency in donor database systems (Salesforce preferred) and tools for tracking and reporting.
Knowledge and understanding of philanthropy within the Jewish community plus. CFRE certification strongly preferred. Supervisory experience is required.
