This mission-driven leader will be seeking an opportunity to create high impact through our cause of raising healthier generations.
Reporting to the Chief Evolution Officer (CEO), and as a key member of the Vivo team, the Senior Manager, Philanthropy functions as a Director of Fund Development and provides leadership for our organization’s philanthropic and capital campaign ambitions. This new position will grow our charitable brand by extending our reach and cultivating meaningful and productive relationships and results.
Reports to: CEO as full-time position and works closely with the Campaign Cabinet of the Board of Directors

A Day in The Life:
Grow the organization’s charitable brand including a long-term philanthropic strategy and fundraising plan that strengthens our philanthropic culture and meets Vivo’s current and future social impact and financial aspirations
Plan, coordinate, implement and complete the capital campaign of $70 million for the Centre for Healthier Generations
Work collaboratively with the Board and CEO to support the Board’s fundraising functions, including professional development, annual giving, campaign cabinet and individual board philanthropic efforts to support our cause
Steward intergovernmental relations
Lead and execute strategic charity events and experiences
Establish a strong, major donor pipeline by building and stewarding relationships with current donors and communities of potential donors
Direct, cultivate and steward the execution of sponsorship, grants, major gifts and the annual fund campaign, including annual appeals, grants, online giving and other components, to expand the donor base and raise social capital and financial support from major donors, individuals, businesses, corporations, foundations and other unrestricted revenue sources
Provide leadership and inspiration to employees, volunteers and others
Work collaboratively to develop and execute strategic marketing and communications efforts from a donor-centric lens
Ensure systems, policies and procedures are in place
Track and report metrics on all fundraising initiatives, provide progress reports to the CEO and Board on meeting targets and objectives and ensure reporting to grantors on program outcomes and the use of grant funds
What Your Talents Include:
Passion for our cause of raising healthier generations
Exceptional oral and written communications skills, with public speaking experience
Outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to influence others and build authentic, long-term working relationships
Systems level thinker, self-directed and results-oriented
Demonstrated ability to work with board, leaders, corporations, foundations and major donors
Strong ability to act on a spirit of social innovation and entrepreneurship
Extensive network of contacts with major donors and institutions in Calgary and beyond is highly desirable
Relevant post-secondary education in a related field, CFRE designation preferred
7-10+ years’ experience in a non-profit administration, fund development or marketing/communications or other equivalent experience.
Ability to coach, lead and inspire others with a strong emphasis on synthesizing information and idea clarification
Highly organized with strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite and fundraising database software
