Youth In Need is looking for a Director of Development & Community Engagement to contribute to our mission of building on the strengths of children, youth and families so they find safety, hope and success in life.
Youth In Need currently serves more than 12,000 of the area’s most vulnerable children, teens and families in more than 90 locations in Eastern Missouri. The Director of Development & Community Engagement will lead Youth In Need’s delivery of community engagement services throughout this area. Community engagement activities include management of the organization’s relationships with businesses, organizations, corporate and private foundations as well as oversight of our volunteer program and in-kind donations.
The Director of Development & Community Engagement is responsible for the management of the Community Engagement Team of 4 employees. A majority of time will be devoted to leading engagement strategies for community supporters, identifying agency priorities as they related to charitable giving, and developing strategies to increase charitable contributions. This position will also oversee their own portfolio of major gift donors. The Director will also be responsible for grant writing efforts outside the scope of private funding sources.
This position will report to the Chief Development Officer.
The ideal candidate will be a proven and versatile leader with a background in management, and a commitment to advancing philanthropic relationships with external stakeholders. Candidate must have knowledge of nonprofit fundraising, community partners and resources, as well as an understanding of ethical fundraising practices. Strong communication skills and writing abilities are a must. An MSW, MA, MBA or equivalent related work experience is required. A CFRE certification is a plus.
