Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a talented professional for the role of Principal Gifts Officer. This position will be responsible for developing and ensuring execution on strategy and portfolio management for the VP - Individual Giving, Senior VP - Development, and CEO to identify, close and steward principal gift (>$1 million) relationships with individuals, and for meeting a significant annual revenue goal.
This position will report to the VP, Individual Giving and will be based at HFHI's Administrative Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a strategic and systematic focus on managing the executive team's work to close seven-figure commitments from high net-worth individuals - Work collaboratively with program teams and communications to develop compelling proposals for principal gifts - Prepare CEO, SVP and VP for face-to-face visits and other activities with donors - Partner with CEO, SVP and VP to prioritize CEO and SVP donor-facing travel - Work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts for CEO, SVP and VP with donors - Routinely engage board members, organization executives and current donors in peer-prospect identification, visit preparation, and gift closings - Compassionately and articulately communicate the Habitat story - Guide the development of compelling proposals and oversee the development of creative presentations and reports to be presented by the CEO, SVP and VP -- Provide accurate and timely activity and pipeline reports and revenue forecasts
Requirements: - 5+ years of front-line experience in leadership gifts development in a nationwide setting, preferably as part of a nationally deployed team - Demonstrated track record of execution of donor plans with excellence including strategic thinking, proposal development, negotiation with internal leadership to form strong opportunities for donor investment. - Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising in an environment of similar complexity - Ability to engage senior managers and board members, and to earn and maintain their confidence - Successful experience closing complex six-figure commitments including planned gifts, campaign and endowment gifts, and investment options - Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including principal donors, Board members, national staff and leadership in the field - Ability to collaborate with others in a complex, matrix-structured, dynamic organizational environment - Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen, and an capacity to engage, inspire and persuade
- MBA and/or CFRE certification - Experience in a multi-national federated organization
