Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is looking for a Development Officer, Major Gifts.
This role is accountable and responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and supporters, and for meeting fundraising objectives and goals. The portfolio under management will be a minimum of 120 prospects and supporters, with the goal of securing annual and multiyear commitments at the $25,000+ level toward identified fundraising priorities in Arts and Leadership.
Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy and Sponsorships, and working closely with the Senior Development Officer, below are some key responsibilities:
Major Gifts Portfolio
Secure donation and sponsorship commitments toward a Major Gifts target by leading and managing an assigned portfolio of prospects and supporters through a proactive contact and solicitation program
Achieve and/or exceed revenue goals for assigned portfolio of prospects and supporters by developing, maintaining and implementing a robust and sustainable rolling 3-year pipeline plan
Regularly audit and adapt related development activities to ensure goals are met; develop strategies to ensure sustainability and growth of revenue; increase supporter engagement and maintain high supporter retention rates
Work collaboratively with the Donor Relations Officer on stewardship delivery and sponsorship activation
Plan, prepare, and brief Banff Centre leadership (up to and including Executive Team and Board) and key volunteers in preparation for cultivation, solicitations and stewardship meetings and calls.
Work with Arts and Leadership programming team to develop, sustain and optimize relationships with prospects and supporters
Participate in Development’s overall planning and implementation processes with respect to achieving annual campaign targets and other team objectives aligned with identified fundraising priorities
Continuously develop and foster relationships with supporters in the Arts and Leadership communities in line with high professional standards and the fundraising code of ethics
Maintain a high level of knowledge on sector and best practices within sector to ensure continual professional growth
Midsummer Ball Weekend
Help secure donations via the Midsummer Ball Weekend working closely with the Development Officer, Sponsorship & Events Manager on fundraising strategy including securing donations in advance of and during the Ball weekend
Qualification and Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, CFRE or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum three to five years of successful experience with proven track record in campaigns and major gifts fundraising preferred
Experience working in the arts is an asset
Goal and success oriented
Strong technical skills (MS Office Suite, fundraising databases and other tools)
Excellent customer service skills with proven ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with supporters, volunteers, Board members, vendors and staff members. Confident and comfortable working with senior positions and Boards
Demonstrated experience and success in building, leading and executing fundraising plans and strategies to deliver on (or exceed) set goals
Savvy at understanding supporter needs and perceptions and ability to adapt to them accordingly to align with organization’s fundraising priorities
Outstanding interpersonal, written and oral/presentation communication skills and an ability to work cooperatively with, motivate and influence, a broad range of individuals
Demonstrated tact, diplomacy and creativity. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

The Development Officer may be based in the Bow Valley or Calgary
