Position Description: The Vice President of Growth at Big Green is responsible for overseeing the fundraising efforts for seven cities across the United States. This is an executive level position that will work to drive the organization forward with the rest of the leadership team. As the organization’s senior-most sales leader, the VP of Growth is accountable for achieving the bulk of Big Green’s fundraising goals, and for aligning sales/fundraising objectives with firm business strategy.
This role requires an individual who is a strong leader, understands and is passionate about the mission and vision of the organization, exemplifies Big Green Core Values, and can articulate Big Green mission to donors and prospects in a way that both educates and compels them to give. The successful candidate will have experience managing a geographically diverse fundraising (or sales) team and meeting eight figure annual sales and fundraising goals utilizing multiple fundraising channels. This position reports to the President.
Plans, creates, manages, directs, and executes a comprehensive donor development and fundraising program to expand Big Green’s annual revenue to exceed $20MM annually.
Leads a multi-state Regional Director team to meet ambitious fundraising targets, evaluate results and implement corrective strategies and actions.
Serves as a dynamic ambassador for the organization, both internally and externally, capable of inspiring support from a variety of stakeholders, ranging from dedicated Big Green supporters and alumni, to foundations, governments and venture philanthropists. Has, or can quickly gain, substantive knowledge of Big Green’s mission, purpose, programs, projects and activities to effectively present potential giving opportunities, verbally, visually and in writing to prospective donors.
Leads Big Green’s Regional teams and plays a leadership role in interdepartmental teams to coordinate and mentor the fundraising work of peers and team members.
Works with the rest of the executive team, provides monthly revenue forecasts, reports and statistical analysis to the President and the Board.
Organizes the President & CEO’s time intelligently and strategically in matters of fund-raising and ensures they have appropriate preparation and support materials for donor visits, including talking points, appropriate solicitation materials, background, strategy and follow-up proposals.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
7+ years of sales management in business to business environment or demonstrated nonprofit fundraising success at $10MM+ level
Tangible success with donor stewardship and with expanding donor relationships over time
Successful experience soliciting gifts at > $1M
Strategic thinker, with proven ability to design and lead fundraising initiatives, including prospect research, proposal preparation, individualized cultivation, solicitation and stewardship and recognition of major donors
Strong network of relationships with high net worth individuals, program officers and corporate social responsibility executives
Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the experience and ability to inspire and motivate a diverse community, including, staff at all levels, donors and partners
Able to lead, train, motivate, build consensus and manage cross-functional teams to deliver reliably
Results oriented, creative and resourceful, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and solve problems while maintaining attention to detail within budget and deadlines
Strong computer skills including knowledge of fundraising and customer relations software tools and platforms
High energy and thrives in a dynamic, distributed environment

Supervisory Responsibilities/Authority Allocated
Supervise geographically distributed development and leadership staff. Lead staff to deliver on Regional fundraising goals and metrics
Business acumen and budget management at the +10MM+ level
