Metro Community Provider Network (MCPN) is a 501(c) (3) Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a 27-year history of providing primary care and other health-related services in a community-based setting. Established in 1989 in response to the primary health care needs of the medically indigent population in suburban Denver, MCPN has the largest population base of any FQHC in Colorado and provides primary care, dental, pharmacy, behavioral health, health education and outreach and enrollment services in accordance with its mission.

General Purpose: Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President (VP) of Development provides organizational leadership, strategic planning and overall implementation and oversight of Metro Community Provider Network’s (MPCN) comprehensive development plan. This position will have the primary responsibility to establish and implement the infrastructure necessary to achieve the organization’s fundraising goals through the solicitation of annual gifts, major gifts, planned gifts, grants (including federal, state, county, local, and private foundations), special events, and corporate and foundation support. The VP of Development also works closely with the Office of Communications and oversees all marketing and communications activities at MCPN. The VP of Development is primarily responsible for implementing and managing the organization’s formal development plan, generated as part of MCPN’s strategic planning process. The VP of Development is responsible for the planning, execution, control and evaluation of all fundraising activities, and will foster the development of donor relationships. The VP of Development works closely with Executive Leadership, Board of Directors, and Donors to enhance and support the overall mission of MCPN by garnering elevated levels of charitable and non-charitable financial support.
Will develop and implement strategies to achieve fundraising goals, and oversee fundraising efforts for the entire organization.
Will generate increased levels of charitable and non-charitable support to enhance programs and projects outlined in MCPN’s case for support.
Continually work with Executive Leadership Team, Departments, and Programs to determine gaps in funding and organizational needs that enhance MCPN’s mission.
Will identify, appropriately vet, cultivate, and solicit financial support for ongoing/new projects and programs.
Will develop, implement, and adhere to formal stewardship plan aimed at creating more meaningful relationships with MCPN donors.
Will implement and adhere to formal gift acceptance policy.
Will build and oversee a high-functioning Development Team proportional to the growing fundraising needs within the organization.
Will plan and adhere to Development Team budget with VP of Finance.
Will oversee annual giving efforts, including direct mail/online appeals, as well as the planning and execution of special events, to include sponsorship procurement.

Ability to adapt and effectively and sensitively respond to the needs and concerns of the full range of MCPN’s diverse funding needs.
Ability to collaborate and develop partnerships with MCPN community members and partner agencies, internal departments, and other organizations.
Sound ability to represent the MCPN mission and convey all aspects of organizational services and programs to general public and giving audiences.
Skill in using a variety of computer software including but not limited to the internet, Microsoft Office, and donor database/wealth screening tools.
Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
Industry and market knowledge of the healthcare and non-profit sectors.
Education or Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred – not required. MCPN conducts a background check, including criminal history, education, license, certification, and drug screening. Experience: 8 – 10 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a health care nonprofit, including 3-5 years of grant writing/management experience; demonstrated success in a development function building and maintaining relationships with multiple donor sources; 1-3 years of marketing and communications experience.
