Windsor-Essex is embarking on one of the most exciting chapters in its history with the formal approval to construct a new state-of-the-art Acute Care Hospital for the region. This sets in motion a healthcare transformation with the capacity to impact our health and economy for decades! The go-ahead for this project anchors a much broader plan for a comprehensive and integrated health system in Windsor-Essex which will consolidate services, bring together our best minds, advance technology, reduce fragmentation, improve care, and position our communities for healthcare leadership in Ontario and beyond.
With the government’s blessing of our new acute care hospital, we will be launching a multi-million dollar capital campaign, in support of a total $2.15 billion investment in the system as a whole.
With this, the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation is seeking a new 24-month renewable contract role of Development Officer, Major Gifts. Reporting to the Campaign Director, this newly created position will be primarily responsible for planning, stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation of major gift donors and will manage a pipeline of prospects in conjunction with a Campaign Cabinet and Major Gifts Committee. The Development Officer will partner with executive level volunteers on donor engagement strategies and will support assigned canvassers to cultivate and solicit major gift donors.
Charitable sector experience and a successful track record of closing major gifts at the $1M+ level, preferably with a health-related charitable organization.
Current knowledge of donor cultivation, major gift/moves management fundraising initiatives, as well as giving vehicles and the tax aspects of these fundraising strategies.
Sound knowledge and understanding of the importance of donor stewardship and current CRA guidelines as it relates to fund development.
Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and inspire others and have demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with, and motivate, volunteers and donors.
Experience ability to coach and train staff and volunteers in the area of major gift fundraising and fundraising.
Strong team player who is also able to work independently and exercise sound judgment in relations with Executive Volunteers, staff, committee members and the general public.
Understanding of the working schedule of non-profits and flexibility of hours required.
Ability to work effectively and relate positively with all levels of volunteers, Windsor Regional Hospital staff, and the general public with sensitivity, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy to promote co-operation and harmony.
