CARE Canada is a leading international development organization and is currently seeking a Manager of Regional Development for the Western Canada region.
The Manager of Regional Development will manage CARE Canada’s major gifts efforts in Western Canada, including provinces west of Ontario and the Territories. The Regional Manager is responsible for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual donors, as well as regional foundations and corporations, with support from the Ottawa Headquarters. This individual also manages the Vancouver Council for CARE Canada and the annual Vancouver Walk In Her Shoes event.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager of Regional Development for Western Canada works alongside and with support from other members of the Development Team in CARE Canada’s Partnerships for Global Change Unit based in CARE Canada’s head office in Ottawa. Home-based, preferably near Vancouver or Victoria, this position will require up to 25% of travel within Canada.
Research and oversee the identification, solicitation and stewardship of prospects, with a focus on major individual donors that align with CARE’s core values and strategic priorities and collaborate with other units and Board Volunteers in the process
Contribute to the growth of the donor portfolio and pipeline by soliciting gifts over $5,000
Manage the activities and giving relationships of the Vancouver Council for CARE Canada and ensure direction is consistent with and contributes to CARE’s strategic direction
Oversee the Vancouver-based Walk In Her Shoes event (WIHS), promoting and managing the Vancouver Council for CARE Canada’s co-ownership and ensuring alignment with the national WIHS campaign
In collaboration with the Director, set budgets, performance targets and evaluation measures
Partner with high-profile volunteers, including board members, involved in fundraising through different initiatives
Provide appropriate gift administration regarding donations, while ensuring an adequate database management as required
Maintain effective communication with peers and update on activities
Promote harmonious and productive working relationships as a member of a team, supporting fellow team members in achieving their targets and goals
Represent CARE as required during events, meetings and local media for specific campaigns.

What you offer:
Minimum of a University or College graduate with a concentration in business, public relations, fundraising or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years of working experience in a Fund Development / Major Gifts environment with a proven track record in successfully closing gifts of more than $25,000
Demonstrated experience in partnering with Board Members and other senior volunteers to achieve goals
Strong writing and communication skills in English specifically related to the creation of proposals, reports and donor stewardship
Solid interpersonal and presentation skills
High level of professionalism and drive with an infectious enthusiasm and passion for delivering results
Strategic decision making experience, including strong relationship management skills and preference to be part of a results driven team
Ability to build and manage a budget, including a donation pipeline and risk management
High level of autonomy, creativity and solution-oriented thinking to develop a new market with a broad portfolio of offers
Computer literate with expertise in using the Internet, Windows Office Suite, and ability to learn new software relating to fundraising and to document management.
