This position serves as the Executive Director of Foundation and Prospect Development for Baptist Health Louisville and Baptist Health LaGrange. The Executive Director will lead the Foundation in all areas of fundraising, including but not limited to:
Near-term and long-term strategic planning / execution,
Prospect identification and cultivation
Donor relations and,
Major gifts planning,
Planned giving, and
The Executive Director will be accountable to advance the mission of both Baptist Health Louisville and Baptist Health LaGrange through philanthropy. This leader will demonstrate passion about the mission of providing the highest quality healthcare. The Executive Director will represent the vision of both Baptist Health Louisville and Baptist Health La Grange.
This position has overall responsibility for growing year-over-year a comprehensive fundraising program that builds strong relationships within the community and helps maintain the margin of excellence in healthcare. Specifically, this includes planning and executing comprehensive annual and major gift campaigns to raise funds and coordinate fund raising through members of the Foundation Board, hospital staff, key volunteers, physicians, patients, corporate citizens and the public at large.
Duties include the following:
To ensure that the functions of the Foundation are conducted in an ethical, legal and responsible manner.
To devise and manage a program designed to attract the maximum gift support possible to BHLOU & BHLAG. The program will include annual fund solicitation, direct mail, a planned giving program, corporate and foundation proposals and planning and soliciting major gifts.
To plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of the major gifts campaign.
To develop a complete donor research program.
To create proposals as well as facilitate presentations and the production of appropriate collateral materials used in the solicitation of prospects.
To engage and keep the Hospital Presidents and the Foundation Board informed of the fundraising activities of the Foundation.
To maintain a contemporaneous case for support in consultation with hospital leaders and the Foundation Board.
To help create a coordinated communications program that will most effectively inform and cultivate various constituencies, including the oversight of foundation activities and coordination with Marketing & Public Relations necessary to engender community support and charitable giving to help the organization achieve its mission.
To develop an annual comprehensive major gifts plan (including a Grateful Patient program) in cooperation with the President of the Foundation Board to steward and grow the BHF major gift donor base;
To actively develop and implement strategies that grow membership in the Ensor Society and grow assets, including lifetime gifts, testamentary gifts, and planned and outright gifts, for each of the major hospital needs;
To lead the effort to deepen relationships with all major donors and prospects by providing a high level of personal engagement through ongoing and regular personal visits, events and communications / updates;
To actively seek opportunities to speak in public settings to appropriate target audiences to promote the idea of supporting the mission of the Foundation.
To promote the development of Foundation employees and selected volunteers to assume future key leadership roles and assists current leadership in identifying key persons who should be recruited to assist the Foundation.
To develop and manage a comprehensive budget.
To perform other duties as needed.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to converse and influence the physicians, business leaders, employees and lay persons as to make a compelling case for support of the meaningful initiatives of Baptist Health.
A results-oriented, accountable & charismatic leader, adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing, and follow-through.
A passion for and the ability to articulate the vision of BHLOU & BHLAG.
Demonstrated experience and successful track record in major fundraising initiatives, including the coordination and implementation of comprehensive annual and major giving programs. This leader must be a skilled major gift fundraiser with high net worth individual prospects and donors as he/she will serve as the lead fundraiser for BHF. Previous capital campaign experience preferred.
The ability to lead and advance the mission of the Foundation and lead collaborative efforts to facilitate a highly successful and comprehensive fundraising program.
Experience in coordinating and executing all aspects of marketing and public relations functions related to fundraising.
Understanding of planned giving and applicable estate, trust and tax laws.
Ability to lead and work in collaborative efforts.
Strong management and administrative experience coupled with the ability to handle multiple complex fundraising activities simultaneously under deadline pressure.
Possess strong business & financial acumen as well as analytical and critical thinking skills.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:
A bachelor’s degree and preferably a Masters, CFRE or equivalent experience (7-10 years).
3-5 years of increasing fundraising experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
3 years of experience in management of development programs
